Gift of wheel chairs for hospitals and clinics throughout the Solomon Islands.
Under the charity arm of the Loving Care Group of Buddha’s Light International Association of Queensland (BLIAQ) up to 90 new wheel chairs are expected to be delivered hospitals and health centres across the Solomon Islands.
According to Bryan Luvena, writing in the Solomon Star newspaper today, Thursday, 44 wheelchairs will be delivered to local hospitals - 20 for the National Referral Hospital, four to the Good Samaritan Hospital and five each for Kilu’ufi, Atoifi, Buala and Gizo hospitals.
Another 46 will be shared among the provincial health centres – four each for Guadalcanal and Honiara City Council, five each for Malaita and Choiseul, eight for Western Province, six each for Central and Makira and two each for Temotu and Renbel.
The BLIAQ was formed in 1992 as a non-profit organisation and works to aid human welfare and community awareness.
The gift of the wheel chairs will help the mobility of those needing assistance while undergoing surgery or those recovering from medical treatment and unable to walk unaided.
I offer my personal thanks to BLIAQ for the kind and very generous donation of the wheel chairs at a time when there is a great need for them.
