The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the Oceania Paralympic Committee (OPC) congratulate the Solomon Islands National Paralympic Committee (SINPC) for the partnership sealed with the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) High – Performance programme on Friday 14th January 2022.
IPC Membership Engagement Co-ordinator for Europe and Oceania Sophie Hertfelder commended the SINPC Executive for taking the positive step in developing Para Sport nationally.
“Thank you for sharing this good news with us. Congratulations on your commitment to the development of para-sport in the Solomon Islands," she said.
OPC President Paul Bird also stated that the partnership agreement with SINIS High – Performance signifies a way forward into the future of the sport: “A huge congratulations on the signing of the MOU with the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS). This is a great leap forward, not just for the Pacific Games 2023 but for the future of Para-Sport in the Solomon Islands,” the OPC President said in a statement.
SINPC Secretary-General Casper Pule extended their appreciation to SINIS management, National Hosting Authority (NHA) and the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) in recognizing Para Sport.
“The MOU marks a milestone in Paralympic Movement in the Solomon Islands with the historical signing of MOU between the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) - High Performance and Solomon Islands Paralympic Committee (SIPC),” Pule stated.
“The MOU established a platform in training the Para athletes and developing Para coaches for Pacific Games 2023 and future regional and international competitions."
SINIS High – Performance MOU outlines all of the support services and programs, along with assistance in areas of the training facility and equipment access, coach and athlete scholarships and a range of capacity building programs of which have not been offered in the Solomon Islands before SINIS was established.
