New solar project for Selwyn College in the SI

Quoting the Solomon Star newspaper – 12 February 2018

“Selwyn Collage principal Reverend Bishop David Vunagi is impressed with the new solar hybrid power project designed for his school.

“The Solar hybrid power project is still under its design stages by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology.

“It is the first of its kind in the country and will also roll out to several other secondary schools in the country, yet to be identified.

“The European Union $8million solar power project was designed locally to suit the Solomon Islands’ environment.

“It was part of the climate change adaptation and sustainability energy project which was administered by the German Deutche Gesellschaft f?r Internationale Zusamennarbeit (GIZ).

“The Selwyn hybrid solar power project is a pilot project of the GIZ-EU adapting to climate change and sustainable energy project.”
