Quoting the Solomon Star newspaper – 8 November 2018

“CONSTITUENTS of Marovo Lagoon in the Western Province are demanding their Member of Parliament (MP) to explain how he has used the $5.5million in shipping grant he had received.

“The Solomon Star was informed by some constituents who claimed their MP Snyder Rini has received $5.5 million under the shipping grant, yet there was no sign of a vessel.

“The constituents expressed they are worried because the current Parliament will dissolve next month.

“Attempts to contact the MP to explain how the fund was used was unsuccessful on Wednesday.

“Constituents further claimed the constituency is operating without any constituency officials such as Constituency Development Officer (CDO), project officer or an accountant.

“Meanwhile, information obtained from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and the Office of Auditor General (OAG) confirmed Mr Rini had received $5.5 million between year 2015 and 2016.”
