Requested help with shipping costs for shoes for orphans in the care of Hearts of Hope Charity

Last week I wrote the following letter to the media in the Solomon Islands.

“10,000 pairs of shoes donated to children in the Pacific

I read today of this extremely generous and kind donation which was published by Radio New Zealand.

Quote.

“An Auckland man has donated 10,000 pairs of shoes to children in the Pacific.

Frazer Mataitonga has been continuing the charitable work that his mother used to carry out in Tonga.

Together with his brother and sister, they've set up the Akanesi Mataitonga Trust in her memory.

Frazer Mataitonga was approached by Bobux NZ who had heard about the charity work Mataitonga and his siblings conducts for the Pacific.

Bobux provide quality leather shoes, boots and sandals for children and have been doing so for 30 years. They donated the shoes to Mataitonga and requested he organise the shipping of the goods to the region.

And shoes are just the beginning, the trust have donated hospital beds, medical supplies and Covid-19 testing machine, helped rebuild schools and renovate houses.

Mr Mataitonga told RNZ that he wanted his mother's memory to live on through the donations to the Pacific.”

I have written to Mr Mataitonga and asked whether he would be prepared to help with shoes for the many hundreds of orphan children being cared for by the Hearts of Hope (HoH) Charity in Malaita.

I do hope Mr Mataitonga will view my charity website www.solomonislandsinfocus.com and be kind enough to help.

Yours sincerely

End of quoted letter.

I am delighted to say that Mr Mataitonga of the Akanesi Mataitonga Trust has written back to me to say that he has put two pallets of shoes aside at my request and hopes I can have them collected in Auckland and get them shipped to Honiara.

As a result of the generous offer, I have written to my partner charity, ‘Take My Hands’ also in Auckland to see if the pallets can be collected and stored in their warehouse until I can find how to have the shoes freighted to Honiara for the orphans in the care of the Hearts of Hope Charity on Malaita.

If any business house, organization or industry body would offer to pay for the shipment of the shoes, please will you write to me by the contact tab on my website www.solomonislandsinfocusl.com or get in touch by writing to my email nkhwazi2002@yahoo.com.

At this stage I do not have any freight details of shipper or charges but am finding out.

Do please help if you possibly can

Yours sincerely
