Two health centres constructed and brought into service in Guadalcanal Province

Two health centres have recently been completed and put to use at Avuavu and Aola in Guadalcanal Province.

According to information to hand, the WHO approached Kramer Ausenco (KA) to provide services from initial investigations, design, documentation, and construction verification for the redevelopment of health centres throughout the Guadalcanal region, including Avuavu and Aola.

Foonotes.

Kramer Ausenco services provided included Architecture, Civil & Structural Engineering, Hydraulic and Building Services Engineering.

I associate myself with the words of Dr Simon Burggraaf, WHO Solomon Islands Project Manager who has said "WHO is very thankful for Kramer Ausenco's dedication and hard work on these Area Health Centre Projects, which represent a piloting of the new Ministry of Health and Medical Services Role Delineation Policy standards for health centre services and designs. WHO is also glad for the support from KOICA and the Korean Government, who helped fund this work and of course for the support from the Ministry of Health and especially the Guadalcanal Provincial Health Authority, lead by the Provincial Health Director, Dr Joel Denty, who worked tirelessly to ensure this project was completed for his Provinces communities.

Commnent

I am really very pleased with news of the construction of the two health centres and with the prospect of more being constructed in other parts of Guadacanal Province.

Yours sincerely
