Unexploded bombs removed from Tulagi

“THE Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force has safely removed unexploded bombs (UXOs) from the Second World War from Tulagi in the Central Islands Province (CIP) on Tuesday to Honiara.
“Supervising Provincial Police Commander, CIP, Inspector John Sara said, “The two unexploded bombs were found at a couple of locations within the Tulagi township during the last couple of days and stored at the Tulagi Police Station until they were safely collected by the EOD team and transported to Hells Point in East Honiara.”
“Tulagi township is believed to be filled with United States unexploded ordnances from WWII so I want to call on people living in the town to take all precautions when gardening, digging during the construction of a new house and diving in the sea.
“People are encouraged to report to police any sightings of bombs or ammunitions,” explained Inspector Sara.
“He added: “These UXOs are very dangerous so I urge people not to remove them or even touch them when located.”
