A press release, today, has revealed that the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in the Solomon Islands has established a Special Task Force of senior government figures, including a senior crown counsel and a marine scientist to investigate the local Beche-de-mere industry and look into long outstanding allegations pertaining to the misuse of relevant laws.
The terms of reference of the Special Task Force are wide reaching and cover 9 areas for examination, review and reporting.
The general public has been invited to give testimony and support the Special Task Force during their important investigations.
The early creation of this Special Task Force is yet further proof, if any was needed, that the DCC Government is serious when it comes to investigating alleged corruption and hopes the Special Task Force will fully uncover any wrongdoing and recommend the manner in which to prevent any illegal activities, should it be found to have occurred, in the exportation of marine products.
