ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS DESERVING PRAISE AND ENCOURAGEMENT

Congratulations are in order for Dr Luke Forau on being the first Solomon Islander to attain a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Economics.

 Dr Forau recently completed his doctoral studies at the University of New South Wales and the Australian Defence Force Academy’s School of Business.

 Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, the Hon Manneseh Sogavare, today,  challenged the students of the state-owned secondary school, King George VI, to never give up in their educational pursuit in order to be successful and to be good citizens of Solomon Islands.

Addressing the students,in particular, at theSchool’s 2016 annual prize-giving ceremony the Prime Minister, who was also accorded the honour of presenting theprizes to the dux students said, “All of us have little wars to fight in life and for you students to be successful in your education and to be good citizens of our beloved country.”

Referring, generally, to the importance of education, the Prime Minister said Solomon Islands is a growing economy and education and educated people are important ingredients in achieving sustainable development.
