The Hon Leader of the Opposition, Jeremiah Manele, gave two important speeches in Parliament last week during the second reading of the Penal code (amendment) (sexual offences) Bill 2016, when he said local institutions that have played important roles in accommodating victims of sexual violence needs more support, particularly churches and NGOs that have taken up the role of supporting victims of sexual violence.
