NZ SUPPORTING SMALL SCALE DEVELOPMENT WITH A GREENHOUSE PROJECT

NZ SUPPORTING SMALL SCALE DEVELOPMENT WITH A GREENHOUSE PROJECT

New Zealand supporting small-scale development projects contributing to economic development.

The New Zealand government is working with the Lelu Farmers Association and the Kosrae community in the Federated States of Micronesia on a greenhouse project aimed at ensuring food security.

The green houses provide sufficient space for small scale farming of select vegetables in hopes to combat the extreme shortages of locally grown fresh vegetables available at stores and markets

The North Pacific Development Fund (NPDF) is primarily aimed at supporting small-scale development projects or activities that contribute to economic development in the North Pacific.

Food security is of paramount importance in the Solomon Islands, especially in the rural areas where communities have suffered crop damage resulting from recent cyclones, climate change and the economic losses incurred by the threat imposed by Covid-19.

I would please request New Zealand to consider a similar greenhouse project in the Solomon Islands.

Yours sincerely
