SI: INSTRUMENTAL INSTRUCTION FOR PASI

SI: INSTRUMENTAL INSTRUCTION FOR PASI

Posted by : Posted on : 11-Dec-2019

UK top virtuosic chamber ensemble travelling to Honiara to give instrumental teaching to young members of PASI.

I am delighted to be able to announce that the Dionysus Ensemble in Residence for The Commonwealth Resounds, one of only two accredited music organisations within the Commonwealth will arrive in Honiara on 1 January for a stay of just over two weeks in order to give expert instrumental teaching for the children currently studying as part of the Solomon Islands Piano Association PASI, and culminate the teaching project with a showcase concert where the talented young children will perform alongside internationally experienced professional players

The Dionysus Ensemble is as virtuosic chamber ensemble with a string quartet at its core, equally at home on the concert platform, playing for events in both formal and informal settings, as well as providing music education projects. The Ensemble provide a range of musical performances from solo cello right through to chamber orchestra, and the team have a wealth of expertise and international musical reputations.

The Ensemble has spent months in the United Kingdom fund raising for the project in Honiara and received well over two thousand pounds from many donors eager to see music education delivered to PASI.

I would like to thank Mr. Bert Gebers the CEO of Solomon Airlines for the very kind a generous assistance with three return airfares from Brisbane.

The new British High Commission in Honiara has also been most helpful and will provide accommodation for two members of the Ensemble during their stay.

It is touching to know that so many in the United Kingdom have contributed to make the visit possible and equally pleasing to have been told of the support of Solomon Airlines and the British High Commission with air fares and local accommodation.

I understand that the Ensemble might be invited to give one or more public concerts while in Honiara but I am awaiting precise details of any such arrangements.

Finally, a word of thanks to Dionysus Ensemble for their splendid efforts in fund raising and for going to such lengths to fly half way across the world to help guide and train local children with music education and to give them encouragement and practical guidance.

I feel sure PASI will be welcoming and the Honiara community too.

Yours sincerely

Frank Short
