A pause for reflection and remembrance

The arrival and transmission of Covid 19 into the Solomon Islands has seen the untimely passing of more than 106 of its citizens who succumbed to the virus.

I am sorry for their loss and, although I did not know a good many of those who have passed on, I offer my sincere condolences to their loved ones, family and friends.

I did know of three citizens who passed away suddenly most recently and each in their way contributed greatly to society and to the airline industry.

I think today of Star Dora, Josephine Trakeni and Colin Sigimanu.

Both the late Star and Josephine Trakeni had special interest in helping the disabled community and in the welfare of the people, particularly women’s rights and causes in the case of the late Josephine.

Colin Sigimanu devoted his life’s work to promoting the national flag carrier Solomon Airlines as the Commercial Manager.

Let us not forget all who recently died leaving behind a void in family’s lives and in the greater good for the country.

Yours sincerely
