Quoting the Island Sun newspaper – 20 March 2019

“CARETAKER Prime Minister, Rick Houenipwela urges Transparency Solomon Islands (TSI) and Development Service Exchange to set up a telephone ‘hotline’ to allow public to report corruption cases.

“This follows the Anti-Corruption Act (2018) and the Whistle- Blower Protection Act (2018) which are now in force after they were gazetted on December 7, 2018.

Speaking to media in his final press conference in Honiara yesterday, Houenipwela said he wants to see the ‘hotline’ continue for 24 hours with someone manning it.

“He said the person manning it should be provided with a checklist by TSI and police.

Caretaker PM Houenipwela said the ‘hotline’ can commence this election until the election of the Prime Minister.

“Special Secretary to Prime Minister, Dr Jimmy Rogers the telephone ‘hotline’ can allow people to enquire if it is right with the law and can report that as anonymous under the Whistle-blowers Act.”
