Australia will continue to support access to justice in the provinces including mechanisms to resolve disputes and manage grievances through the Community Governance and Grievance Management Project (CGGM) run by the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS).

The project also serves to create stronger linkages between rural communities and provincial governments.

Support of SBD2.1 million to March 2023 has been provided under the Australia Solomon Islands Partnership for Justice (ASIPJ) on behalf of the government of Australia and managed by Deloitte and Adam Smith International. The program is now expanding to add Isabel and Temotu provinces along with Renell-Bellona, Makira-Ulawa, Malaita and Central.

The Permanent Secretary MPGIS, Mr Stanley Pirione, thanked the government of Australia for the ongoing support which enhanced and strengthened better coordination, information sharing and cooperation in governance and social issues amongst communities.

The PS further reiterated that the signing of the Agreement shows the commitment Australia has in supporting CGGM and provides assurance that the project will continue to provide stability and support in rural communities.

In response, the acting Deputy Australian High Commissioner, Mr Andrew Elborn, thanked PS Pirione for the ongoing partnership and was pleased to keep the momentum of the project going.
