Dreams Can Come True.
This week has been largely one of reminiscence brought about by the death on Monday of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew the first prime minister of Singapore and recognized to have been the founding father of the Lion City.
One of the few advantages left of my ageing is the ability to recall events of some 56 years ago.
I first visited Singapore, then a former British colonial backwater in 1959, when I called in on my way to Hong Kong aboard a troopship which was carrying national service men to postings in the neighbouring, British leased territory.
