''Policing a Clash of Cultures.''
The debate this week in the National Parliament when the finkdings of the SI Truth and Reconciliation Commission was debated has opened up many old wounds that seemingly and understandably still pertain about the time of the so-called "Ethnic Tension" that first became evident in late 1998 and continued until the intervention of foreign personnel in the guise of the Regional Assistance Mission in 1973.
I was the Commissioner of Police in the Solomon Islands from July 1997 till July 1999 and witnessed firsthand how and largely why the civil uprising occurred, and I wrote an accurate and truthful book I called "Policing a Clash of Cultures" after I had left the country.
I have attached a copy of the manuscript of my book which was subsequently published, and I invite all those who wish to know the true record of events during my time in office to read it for the published TRC the Parliament has been focusing on does not tell of the important factors of the civil tragedy that first befall the nation.
