Solomon Islands past history has been characterized in the past 40 to 50 years of some devastating events leading to violence, riots, and even fatalities, and one only needs to look back at the tragedy that befell the nation between late 1998 to 2003 and the riots that engulfed Honiara last November 2021 to understand why I believe in reconciliation as for the good of the country.
When I write about reconciliation, as I did in a piece the other day and posted on Linkedin and on Facebook, I referred to the coming together and the strengthening of relationships between tribes and people and the importance of reconciliation in nation building, nothing more and nothing less.
