Sea Ambulances

I read earlier this year (2021) I read of a small craft having been modified and turned into a sea ambulance with help from the local St John’s Ambulance and I seem to recall with some help from the New Zealand High Commission.

At the same time as the launch of the sea ambulance the then New Zealand High Commissioner was reported as saying New Zealand would help in providing several more sea going ambulance, a figure of six being mentioned.

With the existing state of some of the rural medical centres and medical clinics, sick patients. Including those in late stages of pregnancy, are often needing to make sea crossing, often in rough water conditions, to get medical care and attention at the nearest medical facility and very often at some considerable distance from their homes.

Could I and readers be given some latest information of the numbers of sea ambulances now in service and where they might operate from in the provincial areas of the country?

Yours sincerely
