A small step but a giant leap for Lunga Community High School.

A new ablution block has been provided at the Lunga Community High School with funding support of $20,000 from the Bank of the South Pacific (BSP) in terms of the bank’s corporate responsibility programme.

George Gwamani, writing in the Solomon Star newspaper today, Wednesday, said:

“The project commenced last year after the old ablution block was removed.

The new block provides a new clean facility for both female and male students to use.

“We are lucky enough to get the help from BSP Banking which is a real blessing to our school.

“Without their help of $20,000 the project would not be completed today,” she said.

“Ms Cornelius acknowledged the hard working school board, parents, guardians, education authority, the government and donor agencies for their support towards the school and the project.

Ms Cornelius also acknowledged the continuous support from the Australian Government through the Ministry of Education.

“I wish to acknowledge the Australian Government through grants that help to support the children’s learning. The school would also like to sincerely express our gratitude,” she said.

“The school operates under the Guadalcanal Education Authority and for that the school boss also acknowledged the province for recognizing Lunga CHS.

“She added the school looks forward for more support and help from everyone in the future.

The school staff and students were excited following the opening of the new ablution block.

“The students have been urged to look after the facility properly to ensure it remains clean and tidy at all times.

“A BSP representative speaking at the occasion expressed its gratitude for the completion of the project.

“Lunga CHS is one of the oldest schools operating in Honiara for many years.

“It operates as a primary and eventually will expand to cater for the secondary stream.”

Yours sincerely
