“LEADERS of the Makira Ulawa Prominent Leaders Forum (MUPL) have urged the Government to change its development approaches to the province.
“They stated this when they met Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare last week in Honiara.
“During the meeting MULP leaders handed over their resolution to Sogavare, which was passed during their meeting in Kirakira just after the national government made the decision to switch to China from Taiwan.
“MULP leaders told PM Sogavare the wish of their people is to see, touch, share and enjoy a bit of the “cream” from this new diplomatic relationship.
“For so long our province had been left struggling alone, we were neglected by national governments over the years,” a MUPL official told Sogavare and his official.
“According to the resolution handed to Sogavare, MUPL forum now realises this new diplomatic episode provides the time and chance to express that Makira people will not remain silent anymore.”
