More cruise ships expected in Solomon Islands

Quoting the Solomon Star newspaper – 8 August 2019

“THE country is expected to see more visitors arriving by boat this year.

“Manager of Sales and Marketing for Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) Freda Unisi highlighted this last week.

“She said more tourist cruise ships are expected to visit Solomon Islands in the coming months that will make several stopovers in the country.

“About four cruise ships will be visiting the country before the year ends,” she said.

“One will be arriving on the next month, two in October and one in November, she added.

“There will be three stopovers in Gizo, Honiara and Marau so we must be prepared for the upcoming events,’’ she added.

“She further added the country needs more tourism operators to engage them in the tourism sector.

“She urged interested operators to register with the Company Haus as part of promoting and contributing to the tourism in the country.

“Mrs Unisi said the Bureau is expected to see 30,000 visitors arriving this year from last year’s 28,000 due to the opening of the Munda international airport.”
