Solar powered street lighting system comes to a remote village community in the Solomon Islands

The village people resident in Ward 13 at Luangina in the Malaita Outer Islands received their first project last week allowing for street lighting powered by a solar lighting system

The project was approved by the Ward Development Committee (WDC) following a need for the community to have improved lighting in the community.

The street -solar light system project is the first of its kind under the leadership of elected ward Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) for Ward 31 John Kehosi.

Luangiua will be the first community in Malaita to benefit from the modern street solar light system.

The street solar light system was funded by the Ward 31 grant for the first quarter allocation of $15,000.

A street solar light system costs roughly about $4500.

Mr. Kelaho acknowledged the member of the Provincial Assembly for Ward 31 for working together in implementing a very important project for Luangiua village.

Yours sincerely
