The Good Samaritan Hospital located in the east of Honiara is now equipped with its own diagnostic laboratory and X-ray equipment.
That’s according to Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare in his fortnightly nationwide address, Friday.
“I am pleased to inform you all that the Good Samaritan Hospital located in the east of Honiara is now equipped with its own diagnostic laboratory and X-ray equipment. It is equipped with Covid-19 testing capability; it also has a covid-19 vaccination tent,” PM Sogavare said.
He said the new development will ensure that over 40,000 users of the Good Samaritan Hospital can now easily get their blood tested at the Good Samaritan Hospital; get their X-rays done without the need to travel to the national referral hospital.
“People around the GGPOL area can also easily access the Covid-19 vaccine by visiting the hospital. This development is a huge step forward for our people in this part of Guadalcanal. It also relieves the NRH of a huge load as people do not have to come all the way to the national referral hospital for hospital care and treatment,” Mr. Sogavare said.
He then expresses his sincere gratitude towards the Solomon Islands Forest Association for funding the construction of the medical laboratory and also the Government of the Republic of Germany through its Embassies in Canberra and Australia for supplying the Covid-19 screening facility.
“This project demonstrates the partnership between our donors and the private sector in the fight against Covid-19. It is also an excellent module to expand the reach of our health services to the people in rural areas. I thanked the hard-working staff of Good Samaritan Hospital, Guadalcanal Provincial Health team, Minister for Health for their continuous commitment and dedication towards the enhancement of health services and moving our services closer to our people in rural and remote areas of our country,” PM. Sogavare said.
